Meet Cacey

Dear Friends,

Meet CaceyIf you’re visiting for the first time, welcome to my web site! Let me just tell you a little bit about myself…

I grew up in the rural part of Northern California, and still live in a small town nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas. I’m definitely a small town girl who loves the simple things that make life special.

I’ve been married to my best friend and sweetheart, Aaron, for the past eight years. He is a wonderful man who spoils me, keeps me laughing and is always encouraging me to step outside my comfort zone and try new things. I love walking through the journey of life by his side.

I also have the honor of being the mother of a very precious and very busy two year old little boy named Spencer. He joined our family on November 7, 2007 through the miracle of adoption. He delights us daily with his vivacious personality and funny antics.

And coming up in Fall of 2009 or Spring of 2010, we’re looking forward to adding another precious bundle to our family – this time a little girl from Ethiopia. :)

I’m looking forward to writing about the little details that make life special. I hope you enjoy them!

Some of the things that I love…

  • Family. I come from a large family and I love it! I’m the oldest of eight kids and my husband is the oldest of six, so we’re constantly involved in a birthday party or family event. My siblings, cousins and extended family are my closest friends, so working to maintain relationships and spending quality time with them is very important to me.
  • My Faith. As a Christian, my faith is an integral part of my life. I’m currently working my way through the Bible in a year and thoroughly enjoying a chronological version that helps makes more sense as events flow together in sequence. I love being involved in a weekly bible study for wives, and serving in my local church. My favorite scripture has always been: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” —Proverbs 3:5-6

  • Cooking. This is a topic that you’ll be hearing a lot about on my blog! I grew up cooking alongside my mom. (She’s an amazing Italian cook – no one makes lasagna like she does!) Mom rarely measured, was very creative and taught me not to be afraid of trying new things. Consequently, I love to cook!

  • Nutrition and Fitness. As a busy mom it’s important to me to make time to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I’m always looking for creative ideas that will help motivate me to exercise and keep me at my goal weight as a Weight Watchers Lifetime member.

  • Scrapbooking and Card Making. When I find time and when the creative juices are flowing, I really enjoy creating scrapbooks to house our special memories. One of the highlights of my year is my family’s annual girl’s scrapbook get away weekend. We pretty much eat chocolate and scrapbook straight through for two and half days!

  • Reading. I always have a long reading list that I slowly but surely work away at. My parents instilled a love for learning in me, as well as a love for books. Our family hobby was to stop at used book stores and browse the shelves for our favorite authors. It’s a tradition my husband and I continue today!
