Family Vacation to Monterey

We managed to get away for a few days over Labor Day and take a mini family vacation to Monterey. It’s one of our favorite get-away spots – we counted up six visits in the past seven years of our marriage. But this trip everything felt brand new as we enjoyed seeing the sites through Spencer’s eyes and watching him get excited as took it all in!

We started off at Fisherman’s Wharf, where we enjoyed a glass bottom boat ride (if only the water was a little less green so you actually see some fish!) with up close views of noisy sea lions and beautiful sea otters, meandering through the shops, a bag of kettle corn and much to his surprise (and ours!) Spencer got to hold a parrot!

Day two was spent relaxing on the beach in beautiful Caramel. Spencer was a little nervous at first because of the load sound of the crashing waves but it didn’t take long for him to loosen up when he discovered how fun it was to play in the sand.

And on our third and final day we took Spencer to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It’s very well laid out and kid oriented, with lots of neat hands-on play areas. Spencer seemed to really enjoy seeing all the different fish and called them "dog, dog!"

Spencer Has a New Cousin!

After lots of prayer and a long journey to become parents Cacey’s Aunt Liz and Uncle Bret are in the process of adopting a beautiful little girl ~ Katelyn Sierra! Spencer can’t wait to meet his new cousin – they’re only a year apart and we’re sure that they will be fast friends. It is with great joy that we welcome Katie into our family!

Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. ~ Psalm 37:4
