It’s A Boy!

Early Thursday morning we received a call that a sweet baby boy had been born to my brother Tyson and his wife Amy. Boys are few in number in the Steward family so it was quite the surprise!

Welcome Colin James (CJ)!

We look forward to watching the boys grow up together :)

Nana’s Birthday Bash

Last weekend we surprised my mom with an Italian Murder Mystery themed party in honor of her 50th birthday. As you can see from the pictures, guests were required to dress up in flapper, mafia style costumes from the 1920s. Spencer wasn’t quite sure what to think of all the crazy costumes and when he saw me for the first time with a headband and feather on my head he started crying – the poor little man didn’t know what had happened to his mother! After a few minutes of talking to him he finally reconized my voice and warmed up to me. :)

Bath Time Fun

We’ve been surprised to find out just how much Spencer loves bath time and loves water. He doesn’t mind if the water gets in his face or eyes and enjoys splashing, getting mom and dad soaked in the process!

Two Months!

Today marks two months since we stepped off the airplane in Sacramento with our sweet baby boy. It’s already hard for us to imagine life without him – he brings so much joy to our lives!

He is full of smiles and constantly learning new things. Here are a few pictures of his newest trick – clapping his hands.

Highchair Fun

We’ve found Spencer to be a great eater. I try to give him lots of variety and so far he likes everything except, oddly enough, carrots! In the morning he usually has mashed banana with rice cereal or baby yogurt (which he loves!) and some fruit for a finger food – usually grapes, banana, blueberries or mango. In the afternoon and evening he loves steamed squash or broccoli, sweet potato, peas, brown rice etc. He eats more veggies than his father!

And then of course there is "The Bagel"! My friend Laura gave me the great idea of taking a mini bagel, petrifying it in the microwave and then attaching it to a pacifier holder – that way it’s attached to him wherever he goes and it’s so hard he can gnaw on it for hours! It’s been great for teething!

With apologies to our Democratic friends… :)

Spencer loved watching the Iowa Caucus returns with Dad.

Spencer’s First Christmas

We spent Christmas Eve at Nana and Papa’s house. It was a fun relaxing day spent visiting, opening stockings (Nana has handmade us each our own stocking – as more grandchildren enter the scene it won’t be long before they hang all the way around the living-room!), playing games, enjoying a delicious Prime Rib dinner and opening lots of presents!

Christmas morning was spent at home with my sister Whitney, her husband Elliot and Spencer’s cousin Julia (since they are trying to save for a home of their own we offered to let them move into our spare bedroom for a few months). It was very special for Spencer to spend his first Christmas with his cousin – they are great playmates!

Two sleepy heads!

And the rest of Christmas day was spend at Grammie and Pop’s. We enjoyed opening our third stocking in two days, watching Spencer open his many gifts, eating a yummy brunch and relaxing while watching Aunt Marie and Uncle Christian’s wedding video!

Grammie repainted and covered this adorable little chair that used to be Aaron’s when he was a baby!
